Black-owned greatness. Beautiful space that celebrates black culture in the arts and food. We arrived for brunch and the staff was attentive, kind, and welcoming. We ordered the eggs benedict with grits, a western omelet with home fries, and another western omelet with jalapeno grits. All great, well seasoned, and cooked with love. I loved that you have the option of eating inside, the rooftop, or backyard lower space.
My first time visiting busboys and poets for brunch I was greeted and sat down as soon as I walked in. I ordered the mimosa for a drink for my meal I ordered the French toast. It was very delicious it is a regular slice of toast (not Texas toast) sweet and crunchy around the corners my favorite was the breakfast potatoes, the peppers, and onions gave it so much flavor. I loved the overall vibe of this place. They had a small bookshop area to buy books, cute little stationary pens journals, etc. I will be returning.
Always great atmosphere and delicious food. My server Emma was very attentive and made sure we had a great experience dining in. Will be back.
This was my third visit to Bus Boys and Poets but my first visit to this location. I've always valued the consistency and the high quality of the modestly priced food. ENVIRONMENT This is the LARGEST location I've ever attended and it made a world of difference as it relates to how spacious and intimate(less so than the others) the surroundings felt. Despite this, the service I received was prompt yet warm. The only drawback is the book section was smaller than expected which was not an issue at the other locations I've visited. FOOD I ordered a turkey burger with sweet potato fries and both were SCRUMTIOUS. I have a few allergies that restrict my ability to enjoy particular toppings. Regardless of this, the burger was juicy and well-appointed with flavor. The fries were the standout. If you seek a unique dining experience and are as equally a nerd(books!books!books!) as I, Bus Boy and Poets fulfills a special need. Few places in D.C/MD excite my appetite in the same fashion Happy Eats!
I love Busboys and Poets in D.C. so when I was in Columbia, MD for the Capitol Jazz Fest, I was excited to try this location. We had a bit of a wait for a table but enjoyed walking through the bookstore. The had an eclectic selection of books and gift ideas! The food was great. I had the omelette with cheese jalapeño grits and bacon. Everything was delicious. All and all we thoroughly enjoyed the hip ambience and will definitely be back.
The service was excellent and very accommodating. I had an older family member who required more room to change from a booth (to move to a table). Sophia, the server, was fantastic and was very understanding for our request. Sophia took time to talk to all my family members at the table and made us all feel so welcomed here. The service and food was excellent and portions were large enough to take seconds home. My son especially liked the blackened salmon and carrot cake.
Camyrn was our amazing server! Service was great and so were our drinks. She made our experience delightful!
Nice newly developed area in Columbia, MD with good dining options perfect for a family outing or date night. This Busboys and Poets location is one of several scattered throughout the DMV and offers delightful breakfast, brunch/lunch and dinners. I came for dinner tonight taking advantage of the 50% off burger Monday special. I ordered the Egg & Cheddar burger with a side of sweet potato fries ( unfortunately I didn't take a picture). I placed the order for pickup and it was ready when I arrived which was still 15-20 minutes before the pick up time they gave me on the confirmation email. The food was still warm and cooked to order. The server at the welcome desk was friendly and was able to quickly hand me my order after asking for my name. I anticipate that I will be back for 50% off burger Monday for sure and very likely will come to try out the brunch one day as well. I recommend this Busboys and Poets location.
